Book Review-Tithing

Tithing

The Ancient Practices Series

By Douglas Leblanc, Phyllis Tickle

tithing [ˈtaɪðɪŋ]

n English history

1. (Historical Terms)

a. a tithe; tenth

b. the exacting or paying of tithes

2. (Historical Terms) a company of ten householders in the system of frankpledge

3. (Historical Terms) a rural division, originally regarded as a tenth of a hundred

I actually went to look up what the word really means to help me understand it better. I have often read over while reading my bible but never really took it into consideration. This book is filled with stories of people around the world who still practice tithing and about their journey through life and how it blessed them if they kept giving and trusting God. How they got back more than they ever hoped possible I must say it fascinated me that people still do it today if not inspired me. I admire their faith and how they stuck through with it. They share their failure and what happened when they wanted to cut back because of dept only to find out that when they gave they were provided for by the Lord no matter how impossible it sounded.

.The people the author reviewed were all different and from different cultures, different backgrounds living in different communities and the amazing part is that they all have this one thing in common.....Tithing and the joy and blessings it has given them.
